Save the Children

Our group, Knotty Friends has adopted Save the Children. We are knitting and crocheting hats for preemie and newborn babies to be sent all over the world. My goal for this month was five. So far our group has made over 30 for July. We will send them in before the end of the year. Here is a picture of mine so far.

Knit a long

I am list owner of a group called Knotty Friends. We love to knit and crochet but we are also friends. I posted instructions this week for a knit along and here is my finished project. It is a dishcloth but almost too pretty to use for that.

Summer Fun

I took sailing lessons a couple years ago. I bought a one man sail boat this week. Can't wait to get her out on the water. I had a 14' Lido but she was too much for me alone. So made the decision to sell her and buy a small one man boat. (Actually it will hold two adults, but can be handled by one person.)

I have a great sailing partner, when he can get away from work and 4 kids. We're looking forward to a lot of fun. Can you think of a better way to cool off from the summer sun?

My latest project

I decided to get busy and use the embroidery machine hubby got me a few years ago for Christmas.
This quilt top is too big for me to get it all in the picture. I took a few pictures of different squares so you could see up close what it looks like. Now the hard part, putting it together and quilting the top.

Emma's Dress

I made this for my great neice in Topeka, Kansas. I think she will have to grow into it. Will cut the ribbons after we try it on her.
Took me about 2 weeks to crochet.

My beautiful granddaughter

This is my granddaughter Paige, modeling the poncho I made her a year ago. It was a bit big but bet it fits her now. I think that pretty smile means she liked it.

My felted hat

I'm the Devine Queen Mother of Merriment....every Red Hat Lady needs a special hat....so I made my own. This was crocheted in wool, then felted in the washing machine. I am becoming addicted to felting. Not the best picture but you kind of get an idea.

5 hour Quickie sweater

I'm teaching myself to knit. This cute little sweater is called a Quickie sweater....estimated 4-5 hours......I just completed it....probably took me between 8-9 hours.

Very happy with the way it came out. It is for my grand niece Emma who lives in Kansas.

It was fun to make and a learning experience.

Thanks for looking.

Texas Motor Speedway

Just returned from Texas Motor Speedway where my daughter, son-in-law and I went to see my first ever Nascar race.

What a thrill, to actually be there and feel the excitement of the race. This was a Busch car race....We couldn't afford tickets for the Nextel races. But we got the feel of the track.

That's me in front of my favorite drivers car.....Greg Biffle. Greg came in 2nd.....way to go.......

More felted purses

With winter I won't be out and about as much. Leaves me more time to enjoy my knitting.
I am becoming addicted to felting. Today I completed another purse. I used a wool which when felted became very fuzzy. Reynolds Lopi Original.....The picture is upside down as the purse is still drying.

I want to thank the following people who came to my rescue when I yelled.....Janet B., Ariel, Wilma, Mona and Benita....Couldn't have done it without you.

I think I've got the hand of it now.....on to other projects. Just wish someone would open a yarn shop closer to home.

My felted purse

I just made my first felted purse.......one picture shows it before the "washing"......the second is after......wow.....I love this felting.....had lots of help for the great ladies on HookandNeedles.

I think I could quickly become addicted to this. A great pattern I found on the internet.

I recently made a trip to Topeka, Kansas
to visit family. Of course it was the
perfect chance to look for yarn.
Since it was pouring down rain I took shelter in a Hobby Lobby, made sense to me. Good thing the rain stopped or I would have run out of money. The yellow tote bag is crochet. The green scarf is knit. It's been 35 years since I've knitted so I'm learning all over again.

From the look of the pictures I should be taking a photography class....hope you enjoy them.

Hi......
I'm Karen, known by my friends on the Internet as "Busylady".

My life has changed in the past few months since I retired. I am no longer working 12 hours a day and trying to handle a dozen different things.

Now I get to enjoy my family and spoil my grandchildren.

I belong to several yahoo groups. I am moderator for Hooks and Needles......It is such a friendly group of ladies. The list mommy Rose is the greatest. She allows me so much freedom with the group.

I'm teaching myself to knit.....once I get a few things made I'll post a picture or two.
