A gift for M & M

Had some left over yarn from the blanket so I dug through patterns and came up with this.

I am looking for just the right buttons for the yoke. Can't wait to see Maddie wearing it.

With love from Nana

Once we knew for sure a precious little girl would be part of our family I got started on
a blanket for her. It turned out to be a bit
more of a job then I had thought but.....
I'm very pleased with the results.

Peacock Feathers

I decided to try my hand at sock designing.

This is my first attempt. The pattern puckered

at bit but when you put it on it stretches out and

looks great. I wet mine and blocked it.

I call them Peacock Feathers.

Ebay...shopping

Ebay..the place to shop.

I love ebay..I bought this yarn (and a bit more). I typed in hand dyed yarn and a ton of it popped up.

The color was calling out to me....Monkey socks by Cookie.

Also I made the sock blocker with the coat hanger and love it.

Girls Night Out

Got together with a few of my Red Hat Friends for a night out.

First we went to dinner. This group likes to eat out, then on to the theater. We attended the live production of "Grease". Can you tell we had a blast?

This kool aid is not for drinking!

My friends and I at Knotty Friends have been experimenting with dying wool.
The shades of red are done with kool-aid and Wilton's icing food coloring.
The green and yellow is done with just kool-aid. It so much fun and addicting.
Got a feeling I will be doing a lot more.

Christmas memories

I can't really say why, but for some reason I wanted my mom's fruit cake this year. Now mom has been gone for 13 years but...I dug out her old recipe and decided to give it a try. I had made them many, many years ago. Mom use to make them in the old, 1 pound key turn coffee cans, Can't find them any longer...Well ebay....They start at $5.95 for an empty can.....So I used the aluminum loaf pans.

SOCK it to me

I've discovered socks.....A dear friend from Knotty Friends sent me this lovely pair of socks....they are so beautiful I didn't want to wear them. Finally she talked me into putting them on. I am so spoiled...I never want to wear store bought socks again.....THANK YOU DEB...

Knowing Deb would not make all the socks I need (or want), I decided to give it a try......I'm addicted. I struggled and failed with the dpn's so decided to give the magic loop a try. Here are my first pair made with Lion Brand self striping. Needless to say.....more yarn has been ordered.

Neeser's baby blanket

Once I found out that Denise is adopting I got busy making a blanket for my new grandbaby.

This first one is crocheted. I ordered the yarn on line and it came a bit darker then I had wanted.

I have another one that I'm working on and will post that picture when it's finished.

I'm going to visit "Neeser" this week and will be taking the blanket to her. I hope she likes it.

My exciting news

I don't have a picture yet but......when I get one I'll add it.

My exciting news.....I'm going to be a grandma again.......
I love being "Nana"...

My daughter Neeser and hubby Dustin are adopting. The paper work
is done and now the waiting begins. We don't know how long it will take but, it will be worth the wait.

I can hardly wait to see my baby holding her own baby in her arms.
She will make a wonderful mother. And I have no doubt what a great daddy Dustin will be.

So please say prayers for Denise and Dustin that all goes well and soon they will have that addition to their family they want so much.

And Nana can start spoiling......
Pictures to follow......soon I hope.

Summer Fun

I took sailing lessons a couple years ago. I bought a one man sail boat this week. Can't wait to get her out on the water. I had a 14' Lido but she was too much for me alone. So made the decision to sell her and buy a small one man boat. (Actually it will hold two adults, but can be handled by one person.)

I have a great sailing partner, when he can get away from work and 4 kids. We're looking forward to a lot of fun. Can you think of a better way to cool off from the summer sun?

My latest project

I decided to get busy and use the embroidery machine hubby got me a few years ago for Christmas.
This quilt top is too big for me to get it all in the picture. I took a few pictures of different squares so you could see up close what it looks like. Now the hard part, putting it together and quilting the top.

Emma's Dress

I made this for my great neice in Topeka, Kansas. I think she will have to grow into it. Will cut the ribbons after we try it on her.
Took me about 2 weeks to crochet.
